Nurturing potential athletes since 1999
Stourbridge Volleyball coaching staff guide our players achieve their goals.
Meet the people who make the Stourbridge Volleyball teams so amazing.
Pete has coached volleyball for half a century (shocking but true). Firstly as a trainee PE teacher playing for Deeside in NVL 1. In the 80’s he created 2 clubs in the Wyre Forest district, junior based of course.
His “kids” Mum Lorna was an athlete so that shone through when both went on to play pro in Europe.
Moving to teach PE in Stourbridge saw Redhill/Stourbridge created with countless youngsters playing and of course moving up the talent pathway.
Pete’s dream is a club with 16 Primaries delivering V2s feeding 4 secondaries doing V3 and V4s where every PE teacher teaches the game well and the club supports the PE teachers.
Pete loves coaching up to basic V6 games. “Give me kids who are not scared to fail”
Dan is a former Redhill pupil so has grown up with the club. Now a coach Dan is quick to see the potential in those in his charges. Several have gone along to be Dan’s team mates in the NVL squad.
Stéphane, Sam and Mihail are dads of children attending the Mini section; Stéphane played at school a long time ago, Sam and Mihail are still playing. All three have been awarded the Volleyball England assistant coach award and are enthusiastic in making young children enjoy playing volleyball “the ultimate team sport”.
Another former Redhill student Steph has been a truly valued member of the Stourbridge Volleyball family since 2007.
Bertrand brings a Gaelic flavour to training. From Lyon originally Bertrand leads the Black Country NVL ladies team as well. Originally arriving in 2006 Bertrand is also a VE employee.
